The First Post

Hey! This is the start of my first blog. I'm sort of unsure about what to say, but I think I'll just kick it off with some introductions to myself and everyone around me. I'm Ryan and I am a freshman in college at the University of Vermont. I'm a theater major. Now, I know what you may be thinking, whoa...theater major? What the hell are you thinking? That's what a lot of people told me, but theater is my passion. Just ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you how much I absolutely love the world of theater and the performing arts. The absolute rush of energy and emotion is something you could never understand unless you have felt it. It's awesome.

But what I really want to talk about now is where I'm at and where I'm writing this blog from. I'm in Feeley House, a dorm not on my own campus at UVM but at Champlain College, about 5 blocks away. This is where my best friend Megan lives. Megan and I met about 6 (going on 7) years ago when we were both in our dysfunctional graded school chorus. Those were some good times, but not nearly as good as high school choir (we'll get to that...). Since then, Megan has become my rock and my sister. She is absolutely awesome and I am so lucky to have her in my life. Megan is a Social Work major at Champlain

So, reigning here in Feeley House is Megan and her roommates, Jess and Ashley. They are awesome people who I'm still trying to get to know but as soon as we met, it was like we had already been friends. Jess is a strong, charismatic, and caring person who is a marketing major at Champlain. Ashley is a quiet, yet enthusiastic person who has some of the best jokes and who will give you the most fun facebook IM chats. Ashley is a professional writing major at Champlain.

Along with them is Velvet, a New Yorker with a big personality and an attitude to match. She is a Criminal Justice major (she's gonna be a bitchin lawyer someday!) who also is taking music appreciation. She knows almost everything there is to know about the city and Broadway. Once again, a person I'm still getting to know but from what I've gathered, Velvet is awesome.

Luke is Megan's boyfriend who lives half a state away but always comes to visit (thank God for the Link Express). Megan truly loves him, I can see it whenever they're together, they're really cute. Luke is a true Vermonter hick who loves his dirtbikes but that's why we love him. He's hilarious and really thoughtful.

And then we come back to my dorm where my roommate Joe is probably watching some anime on his computer. Joe and I went to high school together and we did theater together, even though Joe won't admit he's a good actor. He's undecided at UVM right now, but he's leaning towards psychology. More about UVM and my dorm later.

So that's the cast of characters in the play that is my life. More adventures to come! Peace out!
