Orthodontist

Today I paid my (hopefully) last visit to the orthodontist. During the end of my eighth grade year and into my freshman and sophomore years of high school I had braces. They were these really gangly, metallic, and horrible things that filled my mouth for a little over two years. They were painful, and I hated them (in case you couldn't already tell). Anyway, they were removed halfway through my sophomore year right before I was cast as the lead in my high school's musical, so it was kind of perfect timing. After that, you know what happens. I got a retainer and I had to wear it every night and I have been wearing it EVERY night.

Well, after today's appointment, I have been recorded as "inactive". That means I never have to go to the orthodontist again unless a problem arises or anything else happens. I only have to wear the retainer 3-4 nights out of the week now. It is amazing and I haven't even started this new routine. I'm so happy because this part of my life, finally being over with the braces and having the teeth now that I will live the rest of my life with, represents a major stepping stone in my life for me. It probably sounds kind of dumb and immature, but I really feel that way. I'm on my way to being the person and adult that I'm going to be for the rest of my life. I'm building the values, morals, family, friends, and life that I want to have. Without braces.

Peace out!

Where Am I At?

Where am I right now? Well, that's easy enough. I'm in my dorm room typing this blog entry and then I'm going to go to the cafeteria and eat and then I'm going to go to 308 to do homework and be there for Megan.

Where am I in time? Another easy question. It's 4:43 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. It's the late afternoon. It's getting dark outside. The darkness in overtaking the sun casting shadows through my window and bouncing them throughout the dungeon-like interior of my room with its poor lighting quality.

Where am I mentally? Pretty stable I guess. A little stressed and getting full of useless information I'm recieving from my classes. There's some drama going around that my mind is toying on, but otherwise I'm pretty happy. I'm working hard in the theater, I've got my friends always there to be with, and I've got love and support coming from many directions.

Where am I in my career goals? I am in a very good spot. I'm working theater theater theater and then after that I have my plans to go back to school. After that, I'm not sure where I'll go or where the winds of life will take me. I really want to be a teacher now though and I want to work hard for it. I know that I want to inspire a student to go out there and express themselves just as I was inspired and am still being inspired. Where I want to be in the future is everywhere doing what I love and wherever that may take me. I do know that I always want to have to people I have now around me to shelter and care for me and I will work hard to shelter and care for them.

Just wanted to be a little sentimental today. Megan's going through some stuff right now that once she crosses through she will be so happy. Just wanted to show how much I care.

On another note, the countdown for some holidays coming up has begun! (Or, they have been going on I just haven't mentioned here yet)

8 days until the Snowball at Camp Champ (It does feel weird that I'm going to Champlain's winter dance when I'm not going to mine, I see the posters everywhere around Groovy Uvy, but I know we'll have an awesome time at Snowball!)
16 days until my 18th birthday!!!!
20 days until Ashley Wednesday!!! (Ash Wednesday has become Ashley Wednesday now, a day where 308 will celebrate Ashley DeFelice)
38 days until Megan's birthday!!!! (and Spring Break, which is going to be amazing, more details to come later!)

Anyway, that's the scoop! Hope you all had a good day!

Peace out!

The Pirates of Penzance

This past weekend, I returned to Lyndonville with a goal in mind: I wanted to see an amazing show! This weekend, my high school performed it's musical which this year was Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance. I was excited because I was very eager to help out and be involved in a lot of theater all at once and I wanted to be inspired by all of my friends, new friends, and new freshman who joined the ranks of LI Theater. I also wanted a good show to go down for my teacher, Erin who deserved to have an awesome show!

In the end, there was a lot of pouring of the pirate sherry, a stupid (and hilarious!) nurserymaid, a glorious pirate king, some frollicking sisters, a five-year-old Frederick, a model of a modern major general, a straight-up frightened sergeant, and a chorus of extravagant and wild pirates. The show WAS amazing and I am so proud of everybody. They all did magnificent and the audience loved it! It was such a good time. Thank you to all the LI Theater Company for an amazing show, thank you Erin for a great weekend home, and thank you Gilbert and Sullivan for bringing this fantastic piece of theater to us.

Peace out!

Workout: Day 1 (And Other Things)

This semester is gonna be some kind of crazy. And it's also gonna be some kind of fun. I just have to sift through all the homework and class crap in order to get to the good stuff like Music Makers and 308.

Speaking of classes, Music Makers, and 308...I started classes on Tuesday. Tuesday...my busiest day had to be the first! But it wasn't that bad. Of course, it was the first day. You never do anything on the first day and judging by the syllabi I was given, I think my eyes are going to bleed from the amount of work I'm going to have to keep up on (of course, I'm not letting my parents know about that little tid bit). However, as dangerously busy and full of work these classes are, I'm so excited to be taking them! They're kind of interesting and thought-provoking and fun! Especially Fundamentals of Scenery (duh!) and Science Fiction/Fantasy Literature. So pumped to start reading War of the Worlds (which I should do tonight...).

On another note, Music Makers was totally awesome last night! We got new music, and Becky was really happy to have me back. I was so happy to be singing again, especially with Megan and Velvet! Speaking of which, Megan got a solo! So proud of her! She was reluctant at first but I don't really think Becky gave her much of a choice, so rock it out girl! After Music Makers I went back to 308 and spent the night!

Finally, today I started working out. I know, can you believe it? Ryan Howland is working out? Oh my gosh! Well, I was so inspired by Megan because she has been so incredibly amazing at reaching her goals and through signing up with this weight loss program at Champlain that I decided I would start too because let's face it, I have weight to lose...So I'm right there supporting Megan and I'm really happy and excited to be doing this with her. We've also decided that we're going to start walking on Saturdays, starting this Saturday on our old high school's track when we go home to see the youngins perform! Watch out world!

Peace out!

Christmas Break

Hey! How was yours? Mine was pretty good. It was relaxing to be home and not doing anything. That was, until I went back to work, but we'll get back to that later, among other things. Needless to say, it was a good break and a much needed one. But now I am happy to be back in Burlington, and excited too!
Anyway, as I said before, this break had a lot going on. The first week was very relaxing, as I didn't have to work that week. Megan came over on Christmas Eve and we made cookies. That was fun. We even made WTF dinosaur shaped cookies. We also went to church together that night. It had been awhile since I had been to church and I know it was for Megan so it was nice. It was a candlelight Christmas Eve service so it was family-oriented and filled with a lot of meaning. Also, we sang a lot of carols so of course we had fun!

The next week I started work. McDonald's. Oh boy. It wasn't that bad though, and I liked all the money I had coming to me. I could always use that! It was then I realized that I really needed to work on my financial aid stuff for college, so I got cooking on that. I also went to an amazing theater dinner party that my high school teacher Erin held. That was fun and we all got to talk about everything we were doing in college. I also attended a wedding and celebrated the coming of the New Year with Megan by watching the new Disney movie The Princess and the Frog.

So basically, it was a good break. Megan was pretty busy over break too, finishing all FIVE seasons of Lost so we can watch the final one together when it comes back on TV. She also made a major life choice which I am very proud of her for and I can see how happy it has made her. (check it out on http://308maple2.blogspot.com/ ) But last night after seeing Megan, Velvet, Ashley, and Joe again in B-town, I am completely ready for a new semester with new classes, my 18th birthday (which is coming up soon...!), Megan's birthday (also coming up soon...!) and many more adventures to come!

Happy New Year!

Peace out!
