Hey! Sorry I wasn't able to post yesterday, my decision to get ahead on all my homework for the week was a little more than I bargained for and it kind of turned into an epic fail. BUT that's okay, I'll just have a little more work than I thought I was going to this week. Speaking of this week, last night the Feeley House gang had a meeting and this is the deciding schedule for the week (with my own little bits mixed in)
Wednesday - Dance Party! Woot! Then an epic gleegasm at 2 in the morning
Thursday - Chillax at Feeley House before going to class and then more Feeley House fun that night
Friday - I have the day off. My mom's coming to B-town to chill for awhile and then it's time to go contra dancing with Ashley and her parents.
Saturday and the rest of the weekend - Party at Feeley House!
So, that sounds like an awesome time. I pretty much can't wait. Our meeting last night was full of homework, Next to Normal, and Desperate Housewives. Of course, all of this occured after our awesome 007-Indiana Jones style-WTF journey through UVM's library system.
Let me explain. I was helping Megan (with Velvet tagging along) find some books at UVM's library for a project she has to do. We go to Howie's (the name Megan has assigned to our official library Bailey-Howe) and Megan signs in just fine and takes out the book she needs. So then we go to the medical library where another book is hiding. We find the book after being stared down by some snotty med students and bring it to the front counter. When Megan asks whether she can borrow the book or not, the man at the desk (with the biggest smile I've ever seen and the dumbest attitude) simply replies, "Absolutely...not!"
Wow. Duche.
So then, with the skill and percision of 007 himself, I whip out my UVM ID and say, "How about UVM?"
The man replied with a soft, "Yeah." That's right, bitch! We just beat the system. Needless to say, I handed the book to Megan as we were walking out the door.
We were pretty proud of ourselves.
Peace out!

Recharged
Today was a very good day. I got recharged and I'm feeling it. Now, a day wouldn't be a day without it's comical mishaps and sitcom-style mischief, but still it was awesome.
Today I decided I was gonna go swimming. So that's what I did. Yeah, I went swimming. Yeah, I do exercise. I spent an hour trying to find the men's locker room and then trying to find how you get to the pool from there while trying to dodge nasty, naked, and sweaty lacrosse players as they ran through the locker room. But swimming was fun.
Then later on I got to usher for UVM's first play of the 09-10 season. It was a lot of fun, and I got to see the play for free, which is good seeing how I have to write a paper on it. The experience of ushering (I was a ticket ripper) and watching the show helped me a lot. It has been soooo long since my last play and I was feeling sort of sad about not being completely involved yet in all of the theater here (I'm a freshman, it doesn't come easy). But now, I'm completely ready for rehearsing the little bit I have and rocking it out and joining this improv troupe and singing glee every Wednesday night and practicing for auditions for the musical and remembering why I do what I do.
Life is good.
Peace out!

Laundry Day
Today is Friday which means it's laundry day! The glorious day where all my clothes feel semi-clean and where the dorm actually smells good. (I think it's like the unofficial rule of Jeanne Mance that everyone has to do laundry on Friday.) Today was a fairly good day what with a test and all and my mom calling trying to get me to come home next weekend. My parents are great, and they mean well, but sometimes they just don't know when to leave the hell enough alone. But that's okay. I told my mom she should come over on Friday from the dreary place that is Lyndonville to a sort-of-less-dreary place here in Burlington. I'm just kidding, Lyndonville is an amazing place and I miss it a lot. I had a great time there the whole 17 years I've lived there, and I hope Velvet and Megan have a good time there this weekend. Meanwhile, my roommate and I are going to see Zombieland tonight and tomorrow I plan on working and getting ahead on all my schoolwork this week. I really wanna have some fun, but it's kind of hard. Wish me luck!
Peace out!

Fudge-Bottomed Candy Crunch Pie
From the first bite, I knew this was Heaven. It was a glorious mix of chocolate, cool whip, and more chocolate. It was cold, yet fudgy with a bite of crunchiness. It was pure, it was sinful, it was awesome. This was Velvet's wonderful creation: Fudge-Bottomed Candy Crunch Pie. YUM! I was joined in my glee by Megan and Ashley's orgasmic noises over the pie. We had a good time. Ashley was quite delighted because of her healthy (yes, healthy, there is nothing wrong with it!) obsession with chocolate. I mean, that box of Dove candies they had the second week of classes was gone in a week, so...
Today was a pretty good day. It's Thursday which is my off day, sort of. I don't have class until 1:00 and then its theater so it's cool. It was cold and rainy, but I don't really mind expecially because all that was going through my head were wild dreams and aspirations of having pie in my future.
In fact, today was pretty full of unhealthy choices. After going to Champlain farms for a Ben and Jerry's fix this morning with Megan, I decided to have Easy Mac for lunch while quickly finishing my reading for religion. Then came dinner full of pizza, bacon, and ranch dressing :) Then came pie. Wow. Freshman 40 hahaha.
Well, that's pretty much all for today. Food, food, and more food. That's my life hahaha.
Peace out!

The First Post
Hey! This is the start of my first blog. I'm sort of unsure about what to say, but I think I'll just kick it off with some introductions to myself and everyone around me. I'm Ryan and I am a freshman in college at the University of Vermont. I'm a theater major. Now, I know what you may be thinking, whoa...theater major? What the hell are you thinking? That's what a lot of people told me, but theater is my passion. Just ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you how much I absolutely love the world of theater and the performing arts. The absolute rush of energy and emotion is something you could never understand unless you have felt it. It's awesome.
But what I really want to talk about now is where I'm at and where I'm writing this blog from. I'm in Feeley House, a dorm not on my own campus at UVM but at Champlain College, about 5 blocks away. This is where my best friend Megan lives. Megan and I met about 6 (going on 7) years ago when we were both in our dysfunctional graded school chorus. Those were some good times, but not nearly as good as high school choir (we'll get to that...). Since then, Megan has become my rock and my sister. She is absolutely awesome and I am so lucky to have her in my life. Megan is a Social Work major at Champlain
So, reigning here in Feeley House is Megan and her roommates, Jess and Ashley. They are awesome people who I'm still trying to get to know but as soon as we met, it was like we had already been friends. Jess is a strong, charismatic, and caring person who is a marketing major at Champlain. Ashley is a quiet, yet enthusiastic person who has some of the best jokes and who will give you the most fun facebook IM chats. Ashley is a professional writing major at Champlain.
Along with them is Velvet, a New Yorker with a big personality and an attitude to match. She is a Criminal Justice major (she's gonna be a bitchin lawyer someday!) who also is taking music appreciation. She knows almost everything there is to know about the city and Broadway. Once again, a person I'm still getting to know but from what I've gathered, Velvet is awesome.
Luke is Megan's boyfriend who lives half a state away but always comes to visit (thank God for the Link Express). Megan truly loves him, I can see it whenever they're together, they're really cute. Luke is a true Vermonter hick who loves his dirtbikes but that's why we love him. He's hilarious and really thoughtful.
And then we come back to my dorm where my roommate Joe is probably watching some anime on his computer. Joe and I went to high school together and we did theater together, even though Joe won't admit he's a good actor. He's undecided at UVM right now, but he's leaning towards psychology. More about UVM and my dorm later.
So that's the cast of characters in the play that is my life. More adventures to come! Peace out!
